Stories

I am trying to remember to write down things from school. I will invariably forget. anyway, two things from this week: on monday i was a parent helper which was very cool. Mrs B introduced me to the kids as Leonie, and they all said hi Leonie. after that, Isaac referred to me the whole session as Leonie. Clearly he has no trouble with mutliple identities for his mum!!

the next day a mum who had also been parent helper (k's mum) told me about how in her group (which included isaac and sophie) the kids were asked to say what animal woudl they be and why: soph said she'd be a cat because she loved them; another girl said she'd be a unicorn because they were pretty; a boy said he'd be a dog and chase sophie up a tree; and then isaac said that he'd be a super cow with a cape and that he and the unicorn would rescue sophie from the dog...how cool is that!!

school days

at some point i'll add some more detail around this whole starting school gig; but a few weeks in and there are some milestones worth noting.

-first, we have our first play date tomorrow-with nicola and her mum jill
-isaac was student of the week last week; pretty laid back about it all. he thinks he got it for being good at assembly!

-they are so excited to learn a new letter land character; so far we've had the joys of munching mike; clever cat; annie applie; bouncy ben and quarellsome queen

-and isaac was greeted to school today by a boy called thomas whose mum also thought a play date should be happening soon.

so it is coming together slowly slowly.
and i love them to bits

Little Things

I did a bit of blogging on the quiet last year (well, very few blogs are noisy i suppose) and then took a break because i couldn't keep up with the challenge of being interesting but i find that there are things that i need to write down which might as well go on a blog as opposed to the backs of screwed up envelopes and KMart receipts. So i have decided to blog on and see what happens. Haven't quite decided when to tell people that this exists yet but maybe that doesn't matter. Maybe one of the little things in life that really matters is listening to yourself.

Things to love about kids

in no particular order:

sophie calls her doona her doo-nut
zacy asked santa what HE wanted for christmas
sophie likes to say "that's the best cat we never had"
zacy makes up songs while he's playing the guitar

they are fearless. mostly.
